About Yahso Jamaican Grille
Minority-owned Business
We are a family at home away from home. We have made our home in New England and love it here but we are also fortunate to have preserved some of our rich cultural roots that is with us in the foods we love to cook and to share and enjoy with family and friends. Our cultural roots are from the Caribbean island of Jamaica – the birthplace of reggae music, home to the legendary reggae artist Bob Marley and also known for its tasty “made from scratched” food. Jamaican cuisine is a fusion of food adapted from Irish, African, Indian, British, French, Spanish, and Chinese influences.
Yahso Jamaican Grille has been serving authentic cuisine locally since it opened its door on Main Street in Keene in May 2019. Here local foodies can explore the unique taste of the island. Owned and operated by Jamaican natives, Yahso Jamaican Grille, is a longtime dream of sharing family recipes and the culture of Jamaican food. Owner, Gail, is from Port Antonio, Jamaica – home of the island’s original jerk spot – “Boston Jerk.” The majority of the recipes are her mother’s, each with a modern twist of her own.
The name “Yahso” means “right here” with an emphasis on an important place. Food is a very important part of the Island culture. And what makes an important gathering spot is some good Jamaican food!
Jamaica is best known for its culture, its food, Reggae Music, Bob Marley, Blue Mountain Coffee, the Jamaican Bobsled team, Usain Bolt the Jamaican Olympic Sprinter and much more. Considering how small the island is, Jamaica’s rich culture can be found all over the world. Jamaican Cuisine, including its authentic Jamaica Jerk is known worldwide.
